Justice for crime victims: has the time finally come for a radical paradigm shift?

How is it that punishment has become synonymous with justice and a euphemism for punishment? have almost interchangeable terms? slogans such as ?justice victims? are invariably interpreted demands more harsher punishments. Is truly justice? Are crime victims really bloodthirsty totally obsessed quest A troubling question haunted me throughout my professional life, I spent many sleepless nights trying to find the answer to, is: could be punishment, deliberate infliction of pain suffering, deprivation liberty, or deliberately putting human being full life death called perceived seen most appropriate response sufferings? who, Nils Christie said, primary owners conflict (Christie, 1977) whose property rights were usurped, rightful dues paid them in form ?Wergeld? composition was expropriated by state, led believe vengeance retaliation just judgment? theological abstract notions retribution, expiation, atonement penitence became so entrenched people?s minds no rational thinking, scientific evidence, economic crisis, humanitarian endeavour seems capable shaking religious beliefs lessening incessant universally accepted, extremely popular widely practised people governments, even harshest times, than willing waste billions dollars other reason but inflict suffering on those fellow citizens who violated man-made laws? The time come ask whether 21st century society undergone social, cultural moral evolution makes retributive paradigm ripe radical shift? These some complex difficult questions begging answers will examined this paper.
